Today’s Substack Office Hours thread is full of writers sharing their secrets about how they successfully take a break.
Writing and posting consistently is a ‘must-have’ for Substack success. If you want to build an audience of loyal fans, you need to keep showing up for your readers so they come to know and trust you.
Writers in the thread shared how they keep drafts ready so they never run out of posts. Others use the pre-scheduling tools in Substack to send posts while they are on vacation.
And then there is Jimmy Doom. He writes and sends fiction every single day for his newsletter Jimmy Doom’s Roulette Weal. And he’s done it more than one thousand days in a row. Here’s what he said in today’s comments:
My archive is up to 1,015 stories as of today. I understand that people need breaks, but I promised daily and feel like I should deliver. So I do. One unplanned break with COVID since I began in August 2020
Jimmy writes daily fiction. He has over 1000 subscribers (free and paying) and offers a paid plan of $7.50 per month or $60 per year. Founding members ($150 per year) get a signed paperback copy of his book.
Jimmy’s an inspiration. He obviously loves what he does, and has committed to daily writing. You don’t have to have that level of commitment to succeed on Substack, but it’s heart-warming to see that it can be done.
What about you, do you find Jimmy’s 1000 + days terrifying or inspirational? Leave a comment below.
Inspirational, without doubt. A classic example of SHOWING UP being 80% of ya SUCCESS.
