Always love getting some out of the box creative ideas Karen. And calling your coaching expensive (and absolutely worthwhile) cheeky! Thanks for being disruptive :-)

Incredible ideas! I'm gonna take this to heart, especially the making people mad and unusual paid strategy.

Arp, look after yourself, Shmuel. I’m in a privileged position when it comes to making people mad, being white, with an anglicised name…. I can get away with more than most…

"Post on Notes like it’s Facebook 2008" and do weird live videos!!! I love this and I thank you for this list of interesting things to do. I'm gonna try these two and see how I get on and then if all goes well, maybe I'll branch out a bit. Watch this space.

I like the idea of IRL postcards with a link to my publication. Also I have a series of notes planned about what your fave foods/drinks say about you as a writer…just for fun 😂

This is so great. Too bad I'm such a boring, routine-loving, social-media-hating person lol.

The tip to "Post on Notes like it’s Facebook 2008" makes me smile because I often say that 2006 Facebook was the place to be. It's an excellent reminder; the posts I resonate with are where people are being themselves. So, why not I do the same?

Well I’m so unhip I apparently have no legs at all. What does it mean to post on notes like it’s 2008? Pretend you’re talking to a Martian who speaks English but just got here. Thank you.

"Post like it's 2008" means posting to social media without trying to achieve any particular goal or convey any ideology.... without trying to make your life look perfect or attract an audience or achieve any sort of goal at all. It means posting simply for the joy of sharing something funny, joyful, intimate, thought-provoking or silly with other people.

"If (other Substack creators) give their paying subscribers access to dense forests of hour-long video tutorials..."

That DOES seem to be a popular strategy, and I have to say it has zero appeal for me. FWIW.

Some great ideas. Agreed-- you've gotta be different if you want to attract attention. 👍

There's great ideas here for trying things other than posting to Notes constantly, which doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere very fast. Thank you for sharing!
