Substack Pledges - a New Feature That Could be Great or Might Trash Your Newsletter
Your action is required
Hi, how are you?
Can’t believe it’s February already.
I’m writing today because Substack released a new feature two days ago and you definitely need to know about it if you currently have a free Substack newsletter.
The new feature is called Pledges and it could be great for your free newsletter. Or it could damage your reader relationships and trash your personal brand. Yes, really!
Substack enabled the new feature by default, so if you don’t want to use it you have to switch it off manually.
If you have a few moments, you should really take a minute to decide if Pledges is right for your newsletter or not, and take action today if you don’t want to use it.
To learn more about Pledges, why I think the feature is great for some writers and totally not okay for many newsletters, check out the article I just posted on Medium, by clicking the link below (it’s a special friend link so you can read it without having a Medium membership).

I’m not using Pledges (I explain why in the Medium article), but they could be great for you. Will you use them? Do you like the feature or not? Leave a comment and let me know, I would love to hear your thoughts about this.
